Project Management Apps
Stay Tuned! This is where I will list my favorite Project Management apps for easy reference. List is in alphabetical order not in order of preference.
1st Manager – Offers free accounts for up to 6 projects and 6 users. Paid accounts start at $9.90 USD per month for 20 projects all the way to $99.00 for unlimited projects.
Ace Project – Robust software available both hosted and self hosted. Online accounts range from Free for 5 users and 5 projects to $99 a month for unlimited users and projects.
ActionThis – Simple, inexpensive yet effective for groups that share task management. Free accounts are ad supported but allow you unlimited projects. Paid accounts are only $10 per month and offer MS Outlook integration.
Basecamp – This is one of the most popular project management apps with Virtual Assistants and their clients. I myself use it with several of my clients. Free plans are available for 1 project with no file sharing. Larger plans prices start at $24 a month all the way up to $149 a month.
Central Desktop – Those people fond of wiki workpaces will be find of Central Desktop. Very robust system. They offer Free plans that allow you 2 workspaces (which can be used to keep track of projects) and 5 team members. Paid plans start at $25/month all the way to a community edition which they will price out for you. This is another favorite of many Virtual Assistants.
Clientspot – This company has spent a lot of time listening to Virtual Assistants and making changes to mold the system to a VA friendly one. It is streamlined and easy to work with. Plans start at $15 per month for 10 users and 10 active projects all the way up to $149 per month for unlimited amount of users and projects.
Comindwork – This system is one of my personal favorites. With a look and feel very similar to Basecamp people that have been disatisfied with aspects of Basecamp would feel quite at home here. Their billing system is quite different from their competitors you pay only for those days of the month that you or one of your team members actually logged in and worked in the system. They offer a Free account for 1 active project with unlimited users. Their paid accounts start at $1 a day all the way to $99 per month for small business accounts.
Copper Project – This system helps you manage, projects and tasks as well as budgets and profits. Accounts start at $29 per month all the way to Enterprise accounts in the thousands of dollars.
Creative Office Pro – For those of you looking for a totally Free way to keep track of your projects give this one a try. Targeted for the creative types. It handles just about anything you need done if you have a small business. And you can’t beat the price.
EasyProjects.Net – This company offers both self-install licenses if you have your own server or hosted licenses. The hosted plans range from a free account with 100MB of storage to paid accounts for $11.25 per user per month.
GoPlan – This system also has a very similar look and feel to Basecamp but it also handle tickets. The offer a Free plan for 3 projects and 3 users. Paid plans start at $10 per month all the way to $80 per month.
Huddle – This project management system has one of the most visually attractive interfaces I’ve seen. Prices range from 1 Workspace with unlimited users for Free up to $75 for Premium and a “call for a quote” Enterrpise plan.
OnStage – This app also has a very similar interface as Basecamp. They offer a free acount for 2 active projects up to unlimited projects for $135 a month.
Project Insight – This online app may be a bit overkill for most Virtual Assistants’ clients but it’s worth a look if your client has complex projects and a big team. Pricing available by calling 949-476-6499.
Smartsheet - For those of you out there who love spreadsheets you will love Smartsheet. This app comes with a Project Management Smartsheet template which will cut down on a lot of set up work for you. Plans range from $9.99 a month to $149.00 a month depending on the amount of “sheets” you will need.
TeamWorkLive - This app happens to be my favorite one out of the bunch. I will do a more extensive review of it in the coming weeks. I believe it’s functionality is perfect for most Virtual Assistants and their support team is incredibly responsive and actually listen to their customers and implement their suggestions. Try getting that level of service from Basecamp! A free account will afford you 1 project with 1 user but to get the best functionality do invest in their starter plan which is $39 a month. I love this app.
